Definitions

- “Host” refers to a registered user who creates and manages party sessions using Hot Taco Party. Hosts have accounts, control session settings, and are responsible for the sessions they run.
- “Participant” refers to an individual who joins a session created by a Host. Participants do not create accounts and join sessions anonymously via a shared link or room code.
Beta Status
Hot Taco Party is currently in beta. While we implement industry-standard security practices, beta software may contain bugs or unexpected behavior. We recommend that users avoid entering extremely sensitive personal information during this phase. We are committed to continuously improving our security measures.
Information We Collect
Host Account Information
When you create a Host account, we collect information necessary to manage your account and provide essential communications, including:
- Name and email address
- Password (stored securely using industry-standard hashing)
- Account preferences and settings
- Subscription and billing information (processed by our payment provider)
Participant Information
Hot Taco Party neither stores nor requests any personal information from Participants. Participants join sessions anonymously without creating accounts. Participant responses are temporarily held in our database only for the duration of the active session and are:
- Deleted immediately when a room is closed by the Host
- Automatically purged within 24 hours if a room expires without being closed
- In rare cases involving technical issues, data may be retained for up to 30 days before deletion
Data Encryption
All data transmitted to and from Hot Taco Party is encrypted in transit using industry-standard HTTPS/TLS encryption. This applies to all users at all times.
